Our origin in the recreation power sports business began in the Spring of 1994, when Shawn started SK Jet Ski Rentals renting two personal watercraft to a fraternity at Oregon State University. The business grew from just one fraternity to include all the fraternities of both Oregon State and U of O, and then onto the general public. Our fleet went from two, to six, to eleven, to seventeen, into the mid-thirty’s! By 1998, we were the largest rental operation in the State of Oregon with three locations around the Portland Area (Columbia River, Hagg Lake, and Wilsonville). SK Watercraft Rentals, as the business is now known, is still in operation on the Columbia River today. In the Spring of 1999, SK Northwest was created as a grass-roots company carrying at first just Sea-doo personal watercraft; we then added Ski-doo snowmobiles, Bombardier ATV’s, and Sea-doo sport boats. By 2001 SK Northwest was the largest Sea-doo dealer in Oregon. In 2003, we were one of the top three dealers in the Northwest for all BRP Products. In the early fall of 2004 we became a dealer for Segway, the two wheel self balancing Personal Transporter. Segway Inc refers to us as Segway of Portland. The Oregonian noted our entry into the market with the front page of the Oregonian Business section 11/12/04. SK Watercraft Rentals began renting snowmobiles and doing Segway Tours along the Portland Waterfront. In 2005 we began working on our new facility project to relocate our dealership – plans began for a new 28,000sqft facility on the Willamette River in Portland. July 13, 2006 SK Northwest was on the front page of the Oregonian about our proposed new facility. In 2007 we started Polaris of Portland representing the full line of Polaris Recreational Vehicles (Polaris Snowmobiles, ATVs, Rangers, RzR’s, and Victory Motorcycles). Today, we sell more Bombardier Recreational Products than any other single dealer in Oregon and Washington. Our Polaris of Portland store is growing every year now passing our third year today is one of the top three dealers in Oregon. The new facility and five years of work on this is nearly completed with plans to move the Winter of 2010.
